4 Weeks of Training: Live Sessions and Recordings Available in May-June 2026
Are you or your board of health colleagues looking to get more engaged as a board member? Board of health members are needed as supporters and advocates for public health and their health departments. The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) is offering the 5th annual symposium to provide education and resources, along with networking and sharing experiences amongst other board members and public health partners. Sessions will focus on the six governance functions, with emphasis on board of health resources, examples and more. Learn from and interact with board of health members, public health advocates, and leaders from across the country.
This series targets individuals interested in serving on public health boards or advisory committees looking to strengthen their governance and advocacy skills. Participants range from new board members to experienced leaders seeking advanced development opportunities. Attendees will gain essential skills to excel in their governance roles and support the success of their local boards.
2026 Dates – All Will Occur at 2 p.m. CT (every other week)
Recommendation to attend sessions live, though recordings will be available for registered attendees. Boards registered can also utilize recordings for future trainings and discussions.

The Ohio Association of Boards of Health is pleased to announce the hiring of Lori Metivier as the new Executive Director on March 8, 2025. Lori retired in May 2024 from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She was the Program Coordinator of the MPH Program for the Department of Population & Public Health Sciences. Lori was there at the beginning of the MPH program at Wright State University and is looking forward to working with the OAHB. Welcome, Lori!
